Thousands go to Google every day for one thing. They look for a way to start their own internet home business.

Online business systems, online business opportunities, and legitimate home business ideas are always Googled by people looking for information on how to work from home.

I now do just that. It wasn’t as easy as some claimed. Getting started took some time, dedication, and a lot of sorting the facts from fiction. But now that I’ve learned how to make money online, I love being able to work anytime and anywhere from my laptop.

One reason it took some time is there are so many internet home based business ideas and internet business opportunities that it can be a little overwhelming to figure out where you should start.

You can make money online in a variety of ways. Examples include: e-commerce sites that use wholesale dropshipping or starting your own blog to sell your own product or offer your own services. You can also sell advertising on your blog or promote other people’s products and/or services.

Promoting/selling other people’s products is Affiliate Marketing. It is commission-based sales, where you make money when your site visitors buy what you promote. You can sign up as an affiliate with companies and they will give you an affiliate link. You promote that link, and anyone that goes through your link to make a purchase will be tracked – resulting in a commission to you for that sale.

This is the internet business model that I focused on but I actually have a young e-commerce site as well. Eventually, I will start a newsletter and offer my own products and teaching from my blog, which is the hub for my other niche blogs I am starting. There are many internet business models to make money online, but Affiliate Marketing seems to be a best internet business idea for new people starting out.

All Internet Based Businesses Ideas Require Study and Learning

Some online business models are active, while others are passive. An active business model requires a more active role. A membership site is active and requires much maintenance. If you offer services, then you need to interact with customers on a regular basis. Affiliate Marketing is a more passive income model and allows you more freedom and flexibility.

Passive does not mean that you will not have to work at it. Everyone should know by now that “get rich quick schemes” do not work. Legitimate ways to make consistent income online requires much effort with your good internet business ideas, but is still easier than most jobs where you do not control your own destiny.

Realistic investment of time and money is needed to get all internet home business ideas up and running. You can invest money to get sales rolling in quicker or you can invest time to study and learn how to get your sales up to a consistent level. Learning yourself provides the foundation for future internet business ideas.

Starting a Free Internet Business

You can get started with little money, but nothing is free. I know that a lot of people are interested in starting a free internet business, but starting a blog, buying a domain and hosting it, investing in educational “know how”, and just getting started, all cost money.

It is tempting to just hire a web designer, and that’s certainly an option for those who do not want the hassle of tackling the learning curve. But you really want to learn some things yourself if you are going to be running an internet business. That is where the time comes into play because all newcomers must learn how. Creating your own website can save you money, but the trade-off is your time.

You can find tools in your hosting account to help you develop your website. You will also find all kinds of free resources online by doing a Google search. Google is the most powerful resource for all your questions.  If you decide you need some other help, there are many forums that you can ask questions and get help from others.

You will need traffic and business leads to your site.  This is another time consuming task.  So be patient.  And most everyone starting out needs someone who is experienced and can mentor their progress. Sometimes this is free, sometimes it’s not. It all depends on the quality of the help you need and the relationships you establish.
